Humanism
Are we certain that we are only one being beneath our skin? The artist wonders.
Look at you ! Look beyond, within, elsewhere! What do you see ? a veritable indoor bestiary!
This, according to the painter, is what lies beneath our physical bodies: the subtle and ever-changing matter that constitutes emotions. Behind the tumult of these hybrid forms, Patrick Nupert unveils the wondrous magma of feelings concealed beneath our skin, the harmonious spectacle of man and animal intertwined. It is thus the soul in flux and the impulses that are captured here in their movement. The human soul, gently dissected, laid bare, and displayed in the expression of its composite reality.
We are body-souls, ever changing, ever constant in our movements, ever mobile, striving to be, to become, and in so doing, endlessly undoing and remaking ourselves, carried along in this process of humankind in the process of becoming. We are fire, we are wood. We are up and down. We are everything at once. We are humankind.
